ADR Vietnam Chambers LLC was founded on 17th August 2018 to support the practice of full-time independent ADR Professionals, including Arbitrators and Mediators, Consultants, Lecturers and Researchers, Expert Witness and Tribunal Secretaries in Vietnam. This entity is neither a law firm, an arbitration, or mediation institution under Vietnamese law. ADR Vietnam Chambers LLC is a pioneering consultancy and management firm in Vietnam dedicated exclusively to supporting the practice of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Founded by Mr Nguyen Manh Dzung—one of Vietnam’s most distinguished dispute resolution lawyers—ADR Vietnam Chambers was established as a bold initiative to advance the use of ad hoc arbitration and mediation in Vietnam. After 25 years of a successful legal career specializing in shipping and dispute resolution, Mr. Dzung transitioned to full-time practice as an independent arbitrator and mediator. His vision was to create a space where seasoned professionals could dedicate themselves solely to dispute resolution while upholding the highest international standards of independence and neutrality.

In pursuit of this vision, our Members are neutrals who elect not to represent or provide advice to parties, are committed to the profession of advising parties, and are committed to arbitration and mediation as independents. Our Members are independent professionals who operate entirely separately from one another. Members are not under any obligation to share or refer work with one another and take all necessary steps to ensure that confidentiality is always maintained. Members are liable for their own professional practice under the highest international standards.

Internationally, our Founder, Mr. Nguyen Manh Dzung, has played a vital role in building this global reputation. In 2009, he became the first Vietnamese lawyer admitted to the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). He later served two terms on the ICC International Court of Arbitration, one of the most prestigious global dispute resolution bodies. In 2024, he was appointed as the only Vietnamese arbitrator on the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA) panel, joining a select group of just 158 world-class specialists in maritime dispute resolution. His appointments extend to other notable institutions, including Hong Kong International Arbitration Center (HKIAC), Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB International), Shanghai Arbitration Commission (SHAC), Hainan International Arbitration Court (HIAC), eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre (eBRAM), Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC), Japan International Mediation Center (JIMC Kyoto), Mainland -Hong Kong Joint Mediation Center (MHJMC) and Vietnam Mediation Center (VMC). Through these roles, he has helped bring Vietnamese legal perspectives into broader regional and international legal dialogues.

Our Members’ area of practice mainly covers four sectors, including international trade arbitration, corporate & investment arbitration, construction & infrastructure arbitration and maritime arbitration, which includes charterparties, collisions, shipbuilding & repair, ship sale and purchase, cargo loss and damage, marine insurance and commodities (other than coal and grain). The Members of ADR Vietnam Chambers are frequently appointed in high-value and complex disputes administered by prominent institutions such as ICC, SIAC, KCAB and VIAC. Our professionals are also widely recognized as thought leaders in the field of arbitration and mediation. Our members spoke at leading international events such as the ICC Annual Conference, London International Disputes Week (LIDW), and the VIAC Symposium. Their expertise has earned them repeated recognition in international directories such as Lexology Index (formerly Who’s Who Legal), Benchmark Litigation Asia Pacific, Asia Business Law Journal (A-List), and Asialaw.

In our continued effort to promote arbitration and mediation within Vietnam, ADR Vietnam Chambers partnered with the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC) in 2024 to co-organize the VAS Crossover 2024 online event series. Under the theme “Elevating International Arbitration in Vietnam: From Basic Principles to Professional Skills,” the series attracted nearly 1,200 participants, including young practitioners, legal professionals, and business representatives across Vietnam and beyond.

ADR Vietnam Chambers LLC also aspires to be a platform for building the next generation of Vietnamese dispute resolution professionals. Mr. Nguyen Manh Dzung’s long-term vision is to encourage experienced Vietnamese legal practitioners to transition into independent arbitrator and mediator roles. By doing so, ADR Vietnam Chambers aims to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of Vietnam’s legal profession and its integration into the global ADR community.

The London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA) is an association of practising arbitrators and presently comprises 33 full time arbitrating members and 26 aspiring full members. It also has a supporting membership of approximately 800 worldwide.

Amongst this arbitrating membership, the LMAA offers an unrivalled expertise across the breadth of the maritime sector from seagoing experience (deck and engine), through shipbroking, derivatives and hedging, shipbuilding and sale and purchase, ship management, commodities and cargo operations experience to maritime litigation and judicial experience of maritime and other commercial disputes, including oil and gas and renewables.

The Association promotes practical procedures for resolution of disputes by arbitration and has a voice in major international rule making bodies.

The LMAA has produced a series of procedural rules to assist its users in relation to the running of arbitrations. It has a Small Claims Procedure which is designed for the determination of small claims up to a recommended limit of US$100,000, and Intermediate Claims Procedure which is designed for the determination of claims between US$100,000 and US$400,000 and the LMAA Terms which cater for all larger and more complex disputes. Each year approximately 1,700 cases are conducted and over 520 awards published on LMAA Terms and Procedures.

Although a large majority of cases are dealt with on documents alone, the LMAA was the first leading maritime arbitration association to develop rules and procedures for remote,virtual or hybrid arbitration. As a result of this a physical presence in London may not be necessary for those cases where a hearing is considered necessary.

The LMAA also offers early neutral evaluation (ENE) services.

The LMAA is not an arbitral institution and does not administer or become involved in individual arbitrations conducted on its Terms and Procedures, save for the making of default appointments (where needed and where the procedural rules allow) and offering award certification services to support enforcement actions. There is therefore no additional layer of administrative costs in LMAA arbitrations.

In all aspects of its functions, the LMAA is assisted by its supporting members. The LMAA has two committees of supporting members, the Supporting Members Liaison Committee in Europe and the Supporting Members Liaison Committee (Asia Pacific) in Asia. Both committees are made up of representatives of maritime industry sectors within the supporting membership and representatives of the LMAA Committee. These committees meet regularly to consider matters of interest to supporting members and users and to ensure that such matters are brought to the attention of the LMAA Committee. By this means, the LMAA is able to receive first hand feedback from its members and the supporting members can offer input on developments in LMAA Arbitration practice.

Supporting members receive information about the LMAA’s activities through its website, its newsletter and other social media platforms. lmaa lomdon

The Chamber of Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration CIESP/FIESP is a premier dispute-resolution Centre in Brazil and Latin America. It is jointly administered by two of the country’s most respected industrial bodies: the Center of Industries of the State of São Paulo (CIESP) and the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP). With its founding in May 1995, the Chamber helped shape Brazil’s arbitration landscape and contributed significantly to the discussions that led to the enactment of Brazil’s Arbitration Act of 1996.

Over nearly three decades of practice, the Chamber has administered more than 900 proceedings and currently receives approximately 50 new cases annually, representing disputes with an estimated aggregate value of more than USD 1.2 billion each year. Its services include conciliation, mediation, dispute boards and institutional arbitration for contract-related disputes, consistently following international best practices and standards.

Independent governance and global-ready team
The Chamber operates with full autonomy and independence, in accordance with global benchmarks for institutional dispute resolution. The Chamber is presided over by two former Justices of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF): Minister Sydney Sanches and Minister Ellen Gracie Northfleet. Their leadership reinforces the Chamber’s institutional independence, credibility and alignment with international best practices.

The Thematic Council is chaired by Professor Selma Lemes—one of the authors of Brazil’s Arbitration Act—with Vice-Chair Giovanni Nanni, offering strategic guidance on ADR policies and best practices.

The Secretariat team consists of lawyers with international training and experience, capable of administering proceedings in Portuguese and English. The Chamber has handled disputes involving parties from more than 15 jurisdictions, under its own Rules as well as the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.

Advanced procedural framework & ethics-governed environment The Chamber’s Arbitration Rules incorporate essential features for modern complex cases: emergency arbitrator provisions, third-party funding protocols and transparency rules for proceedings involving public entities and state-owned enterprises. A comprehensive Code of Ethics governs the conduct of arbitrators, mediators, parties and counsel, ensuring independence, impartiality, party autonomy and procedural diligence.

For lower-value cases, the Chamber offers Expedited Arbitration Rules, and it was one of the first Brazilian institutions to allow parties to choose the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules, having extensive experience administering UNCITRAL proceedings.

Maritime & port experience and new sector-specific Rules
The Chamber also has experience managing disputes related to maritime transport, port operations, logistics chains, shipbuilding contracts and supply activities, involving both domestic and international parties. In response to the growing demand for specialized procedures in this sector, the Chamber will launch, in 2026, its Maritime & Port Arbitration Rules, developed in close consultation with industry stakeholders. These Rules aim to strengthen Brazil’s position as a competitive and reliable seat for maritime and port arbitration.

Cutting-edge facilities and digital-first infrastructure
The Chamber’s hearing centers are located at the iconic FIESP headquarters on Paulista Avenue, São Paulo, offering hearing rooms for 30 and 15 participants, audiovisual support, mediation suites, private breakout rooms and secretarial assistance.

In September 2022, the Chamber launched its digital case-management portal, enabling fully electronic proceedings, with banking-grade encryption and compliance with LGPD and GDPR standards.

Key areas of practice
The Chamber administers disputes in infrastructure and construction, energy, M&A and corporate transactions, joint ventures, franchising, and domestic and international sale of goods. It has extensive experience in disputes involving public entities and state-owned enterprises. In addition, the Chamber offers:

•   conciliation;

•   mediation;

•   arbitration services;

•   support for dispute board proceedings;

•   hearing facilities for ad hoc or institutional proceedings.
